So...yes...I'm allergic to jackfruit :/
I found out today because they told me to try it. I've never tried it in my life, and now my tongue still feels weird and my throat is a little sore from the swelling.
I didn't go to the doctor because I ate very little, but the reaction was overwhelming. Plus, it's only happened to me once in my entire life when I ate a shrimp cake my grandmother made for Christmas. The next morning, half my face was swollen. I DIDN'T EVEN EAT IT, I SPIT IT OUT BEFORE GOING TO SLEEP.
Also, I'm not someone with many allergies. I'm mostly allergic to dust and cats, but it's tolerable. THIS WASN'T. I was scared.
Luckily, it was mild.
Tell me I'm not the only one who ends up paying dearly for trying something new.

how do allergies even form

From what I know, it's when the body overreacts to harmful or new substances, which are allergens. As far as I know, all, or most, foods contain them.
It's like a roulette wheel of bad luck with allergies.
